This copying of cemetery burial information was done in 1963 by Pauline Cuykendall & Vera Ward, then made into a composite with a former burial list made by Frank and Clara Skilton on Sept 24, 1920. Their list was found in Book 45, Accession #1273, Collection of Regional History and University Archives at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY.
Mr. Skilton makes the following statement, "James Dixon and Major Eli Wilson came from Hebron, Wash. Co. near 1800. they took up soldier's Grants of 600 acres on Lot #74." He also states "Mr. Dixon of Port Byron tells me that the Dixon'Wilson Cemetery, over 100 years old, was a family cemetery, then became a neighborhood cemetery." On Sept. 4, 1920 C.M.S. & F.A.S. made complete copy of all stone inscriptions available and legible (apparently about 1/2 of burials unmarked.) Original transcripts are in the Cayuga County Historian's Office. Re-typed into a digital format for the Cayuga County NYGenWeb Project in June 1997 by Kathleen Shaw Decker.
