Christine,

I want to thank you for your work on the cemeteries in the Sennett area and your very interesting article, “The Dearly Departed.” All this information has helped me in researching my Strong family line.

I wanted to let you know of a headstone you have listed in Unable to Identify area of the Sennett Rural Cemetery. Photo # 109 is of Amasa Lee. Amasa was the husband of Electa Strong. Electa was the daughter of Isaac Strong and Miriam Bacon Strong. Isaac and Miriam are both buried in the cemetery along with Isaac’s mother Desire Williams Strong and Isaac and Miriam’s son, Ephriam Bacon Strong. Two of Isaac’s daughters, Miriam and Desire were born in Sennett. Isaac Strong came to the Sennett area from Salisbury, Connecticut and Miriam came from Shaftsbury, Vermont. Some information I have regarding Isaac is as follows, “He was a millwright at Brandon, Vermont, and afterwards at Elbridge, New York, where he put up a saw-mill and a grist-mill with his brother Reuben, and afterward removed to (Brutus, now) Sennett, New York, where he bought a farm of 200 acres, and spent the rest of his life as a farmer.”

Amasa Lee was born 27 Jun 1788. He served in the War of 1812. He was a farmer in the Sennett area. His wife Electa died in 1862 in Keene, Michigan.

Hope this helps to identify Amasa Lee and how he is related to others buried in the cemetery.

Thank you again.

Julie Bowen
