To: Bernie Corcoran Sent: Sunday, October 12, 2008 5:12 PM Subject: Wilson Burial - Sennett Bernie...This is the single grave of James Wilson who died in 1818. I have attached the photos. The markings on the grave face the road. I took a photo from the back of the grave to show the road and give a more clear indication of its location. The site is located right at the intersection of County House Road and where North Street becomes the State Route. On the Sennett map found on the County Historian's websites, it is indicated as a little north of that. The top of his headstone reads "Colonel." What appears to be a footstone has his initials "J.W." and is leaning up against the tree right next to the grave |
The 1960s countywide cemetery burial inventory cites the following information
for this cemetery:
One grave on Rt. 34 just north of County House Rd. on west side under tree.
Col. James WILSON died A.D. Aug. 4, 1818 in 47th yr of his age (probably War of 1812)
