CHURCH GOVERNMENT CHANGE FROM CONGREGATIONAL TO PRESBYTERIAN

Proceedings April 23, 1873

1873 April 23rd. The Deacons of the Church met in the Pastor's Study and after a season of prayer had, resolved to call a church meeting on the 3rd. of May to take into consideration the changing of our form of Ch. Govt. from Congregational to Presbyterian.(according to the request of the General Assembly of 1869.) and if the way should be clear, to make said change; other things pertaining to the church being considered the meeting was closed with prayer.

1873 May 31st. The Church being duly notified from the Pulpit on two preceeding sabbaths met in the Session Room and after Prayer and some consideration of the subject before them unanimously resolved to change the Govt. of the Church from Congregational to Presbyterian and elect five Elders and four Deacons to serve the Church as a Presbyterian body. Nominations for Elders and Deacons were make and the 14th. Day of June was set for the Election of said officers. Meeting closed with prayer.

1873 Jun 15th. Resolved that the church be called the 1st Presbyterian Church in Sennett.
