Some births and marriages of Cayuga Co. families are mentioned in the clipping, which was transcribed by Roger Post.
Battey Family Reunion
The forty-fourth annual reunion of the Battey family was held at the home of Herbert and Catherine Battey, Rochester, N. Y., June 30, 1934. After dinner which was served on the lawn the meeting was called to order by the second vice-president, Seward N. Battey. After prayer offered by Rev. A. W. Battey the minutes of the last meeting were read and accepted. Forty-four members answered to the roll call. The historian reported three marriages and seven births.
Marriages - Ruth Lane, daughter of Glenville and Lottie (Jones) Lane, married August 18, 1933, George Loyster, Owasco, N. Y. Ann Louise Jones, daughter of George and Frances (Pierce) Jones, married August 30 1933, Dr. John Fitzmaurice Byrd, Augusta, Ga. Elmo Dolton, son of Frank and Lillian Altina (Battey) Dolton, married May 20, 1934, Beatrice Elizabeth Schnell.
Births - Born to Delbert and Dorothy (Conner) McCumby, a son, Gerald Ward, June 11, 1934, Everitt, Wash. Born to Ray and Christine (Mitchell) Alexander, a daughter, Marilyn Ann, March 31, 1934, Union Springs, N. Y. Born to Howard and Beatrice (Dedrick) Gardner, a son, Neil, March 1, 1934, Union Springs, N. Y. Born to Zalo and Lydia (Guindon) Miles, a son, Richard Henry, November 16, 1933, Salem, Ohio. Born to Eben L. and Ada (Couzins) Conner, a daughter, Cecile, November 1933, Yakaima, Wash. Born to George and Ruth (Lane) Loyster, a son, Glenville Harland, June 13, 1934, Owasco, N. Y. Born to Edward Lynn and Madolin (Coe) Drummond, a daughter, Margaret Carlisle, September 18, 1930, Augusta, Ga.
The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: President, Elmer E. Battey; first vice-president, Seward N. Battey; second vice-president, Harry Battey; secretary and treasurer, Josephine H. G. Hoxie; historian, Rev. A. W. Battey and assistant historian, Laura E. Hitchcock.
The following table committee was appointed: Harold and Mildred Reynolds, Ray and Christine Alexander, George and Gussie Benjamin, Charles and Erma Towmey and Victor and Viola Fandrich.
After a vote of thanks given our host and hostess, Herbert and Catherine
Battey, the meeting was adjourned to meet with Seward and Ruth Battey, Swan
Road, East Rochester, N. Y., the last Saturday in June, 1935. Each to bring
their own table service.
