Storke references information about early merchants in the Town of Springport and Village of Union Springs,NY (within Cayuga County NY). On this page, it cites: Archibald Stewart, who came in from New Jersey with his father, Robert L., in 1811, and settled at Sherwood, commenced the boot and shoe business here in 1831, and still conducts it.

The Union Springs Advertiser (newspaper) for Thursday January 21, 1892 includes an obituary for Mrs. Archibald Stewart as follows:- Obituary - On Friday January 8th occured the death of Mrs Archibald Stewart. She leaves a husband and a large family of sons and daughters to mourn for her loss. She was a member of the M.E. Church in Union Springs. For may years the pall of disease steadily drew its gloomy mantle over her. Having been afflicted with paralysis, its racked her body with pain incessantly. But through all, her mind retained its strength and brightness. But the silver cord is loosened, the golden bowl is broken and she is at rest, safe, we trust, in the arms of her savior.
The 1892 New York State Death Record Index shows that a death certificate record for Mary E. Stewart was recorded with the Village Clerk of Union Springs NY and cites the date of death as: January 8, 1892
The Auburn (NY) Bulletin (Newspaper) published on Thursday September 15, 1895 includes a brief story about the death of Archibald STEWART as follows:- Death Of An Old Resident. - Archibal Stewart of Union Springs, one of the oldest and best known citizens of Cayuga County, where he had resided all his life, died at his home at an early hour this morning in the 90th year of his age. Mr Stewart was the father of Mrs. M.H. McIntyre of No 8 Church Street, this city.

The Auburn (NY) Bulletin (Newspaper) published on Friday May 5, 1905 includes a brief story as follows:- Four generations met at the home of Mrs. Susan Wildrick in Newark N.J. April 25 to celebrate her 92 birthday. She is a great reader, has a remakable memory, was a resident of Auburn at the time the Auburn Prison was built. She is a sister of the late Archibald Stewart of Union Springs who lived to the age of 90 years.-Union Springs Advertiser
