Melrose Road Cemetery or Miller Cemetery; or Curtis/Curtiss Cemetery or Porter Hill Cemetery; or Porter Farm Cemetery

( Town of Owasco, Cayuga County, New York) #157
NOTE: THIS CEMETERY MAY HAVE BEEN KNOWN BY MANY NAMES...
Melrose Road Cemetery; Miller Cemetery; Porter Hill Cemetery, Porter Farm Cemetery; or Curtis/Curtiss Cemetery

This cemetery has a partial white fence along Melrose Road and is located in the Town of Owasco NY (south-east of the City of Auburn NY).  If you travel west along Melrose Road (County Route 72), towards Auburn and go past Oakridge Road, Melrose Road takes a 90-degree turn to the north or right and Morningside Drive intersects and runs south.  At the point where Melrose Road takes a turn and intersects Morningside Drive, the cemetery is at the turn in the road; on the south-west side of Melrose Road.  The cemetery is located near the spot where Melrose Road intersects Morningside Drive.  This cemetery is known by several names; such as: Porter Hill Cemetery, Melrose Road Cemetery, Porter Farm Cemetery, Miller Cemetery or Curtis/Curtiss Cemetery and is located in an area between two houses with address: 132 Melrose Road on the north and 9 Morningside Drive on the south.

(The main body of these records shown below were from published records probably done in the 1930s by Frank & Clara Skilton. In 1962, Local Historian Mabel Crosby
took their list to the cemetery to check, but found the stones almost entirely broken up except for the ones which had been lying on the ground long enough not to attact. attention. A couple of additional names turned up plus a couple of corrections.)
NOTE: The comments in parentheses above are those of M. Crosby
