Hi Bernie and Susan -
In the Ridgeway Cemetery #248 - Town of Venice there is a headstone with the name SMITH and then the names Minnie E. and Glenn D. Would you please add Minnie E. Richardson Peckham to the listing. She was married first to Fred J. Peckham who is buried in Scipio Rural Cemetery and then to Glenn D. Smith. Her son, Charles Oscar Peckham is buried in Ridgeway Cemetery. On the other side of the Smith headstone in one corner is written RICHARDSON and then the name Mary E., 1859-1934. Would you please add this name to this cemetery and show it as Mary E. Hoagland Richardson. She is Minnie's mother. The lot next to Mary Richardson appears to be unoccupied. I have been attempting to find her husband Oscar Richardson, but to no avail. Do you know who I could check with to see if Oscar was buried here and his name was never put on the headstone?

Would you please make the following additions to the Peckham entry -
PECKHAM - Charles Oscar 11-9-1894 to 5-15-1961
Gertrude Joanna Streeter, his wife 12-8-1899 to 5-15-1985
Evelyn D. Hoxie, wife of Henry - name should be Eveline
Charles and Gertrude Peckham were my grandmother and grandfather.
Please add the following names to Ridgeway Cemetery
MARKS - Richard Thomas 5-6-1929 to 7-26-1997
Eleanor Marie Peckham, his wife 10-30-1929 to 5-19-1995
Richard and Eleanor Marks were my aunt and uncle, and Eleanor was a daughter of Charles and Gertrude Streeter Peckham.

QUAKER OR FRIENDS CHURCH #84 - Town of Ledyard
Please add the following information -
BOUCHER - Kezia Taylor, wife of Thomas

KING FERRY CEMETERY #63 - Town of Genoa
Please add the following individuals - I have a picture of the headstone showing these individuals are buried here. Please insert after Eleanor K. Peckham as these names are part of this family.
PECKHAM - Allen Wayne, son of Warren Monroe Peckham & Helen A. Biller, 1923-1925
PECKHAM - Warren Monroe 1877-1938
Helen A. Biller, his wife 1883 -1962
SCIPIO RURAL CEMETERY #165 - Town of Scipio
Please add the following name -
PECKHAM - Fred J., son of Charles Henry Peckham and D. Adelle Palmer 10-9-1869 to 8-2-1901

Hi, great cemetery information on the Cayuga County site.

I found this information for Scipio Rural Cemetery at http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nycayuga/cem/cem165.htm:
Cranson, Caleb
Lot #9 1824-12/20/1897 74 yr
Son of Caleb Cranson & Hannah ?

Cranson, Martha A. Spaulding
Wife of Caleb 1827-10/10/1900 72 yr 10 mo 6 da
Dau of John Spaulding & Amanda Tracey

Cranson, Samuel T.
Son of Caleb & Martha 1868-1932

Cranson, Dexter
No Marker
D 3/8/1890 79 yr
Son of Caleb Cranson & Hannah?

Dexter Cranson would have been Caleb Cranson, Jr.'s brother, both sons of Caleb and Hannah Porter Cranson. Stewart's Corners Cemetery http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nycayuga/cem/cem247.htm has him listed on their transcription (Dexter Cranton) directly below Caleb, Hannah, and several other Cranson family, and other family members are buried there as well. Since the heading on your page for Scipio Rural Cemetery says the records were obtained from Death and County records, I suspect that Dexter died and was buried in Scipio, and was either moved to Stewart's Corners or a marker was put in Stewart's Corners for him with the family.

Thanks for your work.

I tried to e-mail Nancy Brown Buckhout but the address shown on the site no longer is valid, so I'm writing to you with one small correction shown below.

Thank you for all the work you have done indexing these records. I have one small correction. Snyder, Henrietta Cutler. Her real maiden name was Cutter. She was the only surviving child of John and Hannah Cutter. Hannah lived for a number of years with Henrietta and Edwin Snyder and appears on the US Census with them. John, Hannah and their other daughter, Clarrinda, are all buried in the Hawkins (Little Hollow) Cemetery in Genoa. Hannah died in 1879 and Henrietta was named Administratrix and said she was the only surviving child. Most researchers know to simultaneously check Cutter and Cutler but thought I'd let you know.

Thanks again for doing such a fine job.

Hi, Bernie.  I've found a date for the death of Scott Rumsey that differs from date in the cemetery list by one month.  My source is Scott's obituary.  The corrected death date is 5 September 1926.

Source:  Thomas Tryniski (scan), Roger Post (transcriber), Scott Rumsey Dead (Auburn, Cayuga Co., NY, The Auburn Citizen, Tuesday, 7 September 1926), Old Fulton New York Post Cards http://www.fultonhistory.com , "Scott Rumsey well known resident of Scipio, died Sunday morning. Mr. Rumsey, who was 78 years of age, had been ill about two weeks. He was born and had spent all his life in Scipio. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Clara Post of Scipio; three nephews, Otto Post of Scipio and George E. and Glenn A. Shorkley, both of Merrifield. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the home of Glenn Shorkley. Rev. Mr. Crippen of the Fleming Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Scipio Center".

I double-checked the newspaper publication date (7 September 1926) and the same date appears on the previous page and in by-lines so likely is correct, implying a mistake in the vital records used for the cemetery list.

Thanks!

Subject: Scipio Rural Cemetery Coy Family Burials

Hi, Bernie.  I've found what appear to be two Coy family burials in Scipio Rural Cemetery that do not appear on the cemetery list, should you like to make an annotation.  Here are my sources:

Thomas Tryniski (scan), Roger Post (transcriber), Deaths. . . . COY (Auburn, Cayuga Co., NY, The Press, Thursday, 24 April 1941), Old Fulton New York Post Cards <http://www.fultonhistory.com>, "Sunday morning, April 20, 1941, at her home, 16 Orchard Street, Auburn, Angeline B. Coy, in the 96th year of her age. Funeral was held Tuesday. Burial was in Scipio Center Cemetery. . . ."

Thomas M. Tryniski (scan), Roger Post (transcriber), COY, David:  News Item on Funeral (The Genoa Tribune, Genoa, Cayuga Co., NY, Friday, 14 October 1921 <http://www.fultonhistory.com/Fulton.html>), "The funeral of David Coy was held from the Baptist church at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, Sunday, Oct. 2. . . . Interment was made in the family plot in Scipio Rural cemetery"

Angeline and David Coy are children of George Coy and Eliza Johnson Coy, both of whom appear in the list under Lot #77 but have no markers.  I have a birthdate for Angeline as May 1845 and for David as May 1844.

Thanks,

Subject: correction on Joseph Hodson - Scipio Rural Cemetery, Scipio NY

Hi Bernie,

I was given wrong information on Joseph Hodson from his ancestor Jane Owen.  Joseph Hodson is the son of Peter Hodson and his 2nd wife Angeline.  Hannah was his first wife and she died March 2, 1845.  Jane has obtained his death registry and found this information.  Joseph was born in Dec 1845.  Thank you for making this correction.
