Moses TREAT married Mahala MANROW, 4 December 1791 in Sharon, Conn. as recorded at the Town Hall, in Sharon. Mahala TREAT's grave stone in Pine Hill Cemetery reads:
Mahala Treat died July 16 1846 aged 72 years Wife of Deacon Moses Treat
Mahala's birthdate was recorded in Sharon, Conn. as April 7, 1776. So this means that grave stone death date is in error by approximately two years.  One more striking example to prompt one to pursue several sources of proof is record as found on gravestone of Philow MANROW. brother of Mahala (MANROW) TREAT (also buried in Pine Hill Cem.). This clearly reads:
In Memory of Philow Manrow who died June  22 1819 aged 43 years.  Sharon, Conn. records record his birth date as Feb. 8, 1771. This means his age at death should have been 48 on stone, a variance of about five years. I personally examined the Sharon, Conn. records at the Town Hall in 1950 and after much research have found them to be reliable.  In conclusion, I might add that my mother Elizabeth MANROW VAN DUSEN used to tell that many of the earlier stones in Pine Hill Cemetery were cut by the prisoners at the Auburn State Prison. Did they misread the writing of records handed to them or did they cut in the date when they worked on stone by error or were they handed erroneous dates by family who maybe only guessed at approximate age, etc.?? The Settlement papers of my direct ancestor Younglove MANROW, brother of Philow and Mahala above, showed expenses paid to the prison for labor. Evidently this was in connection with the stone cutting for the cemetery.
