Peter Kurtz (Rootsweb Genealogy Message Boards Post For Cayuga County
NY ) Posted: 27 Nov 2005 7:28PM GMT Classification: Query Surnames: Tupper, Adams, Cutter, Clark, Campbell, Russell, Woodin, King, Sisson Following is a complete list of the burials in Tuppers Corners Cemetery (also known as Indian Fields Road Cemetery) in Venice. There are a couple other lists floating around, including one on the Cayuga County Genweb page, but these are incomplete. This list was put together after several visits to the cemetery by myself, as well as information gathered from the Genoa Rural Life Museum in Kings Ferry (courtesy Grayson Mitchell). The cemetery was established in 1808 on land owned by my 3rd great-grandfather, Josiah Tupper. He deeded his farm to his daughter Betsy Tupper Dean, who sold the land to a neighbor when her family moved to Michigan in 1864. The one-acre burial grounds, however, was earlier deeded to a now-defunct Scottish Presbyterian sect, the "Society of Seceders." Today, the cemetery is considered "abandoned."
