BRICK CHURCH CEMETERY

CATO, NY (CAYUGA COUNTY)
Also known as Peters' Yard, or Guyder Farm or LaDue Farm Cemetery

Inscriptions have been copied several times - by Miss Lesley E. Voorhees (1929) of Baldwinsville and Mr. Carroll E. Dudley of Meridian about 1925.  Inscriptions secured again Aug. 1931 by Lesley E. & Sophia Voorhees of Baldwinsville with this description: Peter's Yard or Guyder Farm - a small cemetery of about 1 acre on the old Guyder Farm near Brick Church and about midway between Cato and Weedsport. Further south than the Brick Church, and nearer Weedsport, is a brick schoolhouse and directly east of this schoolhouse is a road, Short Cut Road, which leads past this little cemetery about 1/2 mile away. The 1931 owner of the farm was Mr. Christa Schrader, Weedsport, R.D. 2.  Several monuments in cemetery in form of obelisks, all but one off base. Copied by Skiltons in 1930s as "Ladue Cemetery
Copied by C.E. Hall in 1938 who called it Brick Church Cemetery. M. Crosby and Don Ruscoe copied once more in 1962, digging up four stones which hadn't been found previously! The following is a composite of all records.
