Located on South Street Road (NYS Route 34) about 1/4 mile past the city line, on the west side of the road.

FARMER,     Polly (Hall) his wife, born in Cayuga County Jan. 17, 1806 - died Jan. 25, 1885

"A Notation From The 1962 Countywide Cemetery Burial Inventory Concerning This Cemetery Is Cited Below":  There was also one monument on its face, too large for one person to move.  Everything else in the cemetery gone, except for large bases.  Since this cemetery was of some size, I inquired of neighbors who had lived in the vicinity many years.  One day a year ago (1961), a truck drove up and parked by the cemetery.  Men slid the stones out, stacked them in the truck and carted them away.  There are no "Farmers" living around there now (nor in Auburn) so couldn't check whether the moving of the stones was authorized or whether they were just plain stolen.  Mable Crosby - April 1962  (The above story contained in the countywide cemetery burial inventory compiled in 1962 has become an urban legend.  See clarification below.)

"After I was named the Fleming NY Historian, I undertook a project restoring Galpin Hill Cemetery.  I stopped by the Farmer Cemetery with a pickup truck that contained eight stones from Galpin Hill that I was taking to a monument man in Auburn to be repaired.  I was looking at Farmer Cemetery to see if any of the stones there could be saved.  A neighbor came out and asked what I was doing - no one removed any stones from that cemetery.  A record of the cemetery from 1929 done by the Skiltons lists only two burials at the site.  These so-called bases are probably rocks.   I attach the Skilton findings which match what I saw in 1961".  -  Sheila S.
