Located at corner of Poplar Ridge and Dixon Roads
Source: This cemetery burial or headstone
listing was originally compiled in the early 1960s as a project by local
historians and members of the Owasco, NY chapter- DAR. The main body
of this website displays this cemetery listing exactly as cited in this
1960s inventory. A copy was obtained from the collections of the Cayuga County
Historians Office and typed into a digital format in February 1998 by Kim
Straight. Website HTML design by Bernie Corcoran. A website with
photo images of some headstone from this cemetery can be found on the Internet
at: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nycayuga/cem/cem84/ |

<< Subj: Correction to QUAKER or FRIENDS CEMETERY - Town of Ledyard
#84 From: Lee.Nevers When they were very young, Earl William Mosher (b. 1898 d. 1966) took his daughters to visit his ancestor's family plot. The cemetery is no longer maintained, although a granite marker behind an old tree identifies the front property as the site of a "Friends Meeting House 1810 - 1912." Mosher family graves that were found in this cemetery in August 1998 are as follows:
Clarence Mosher: son of S. W. & O. Mosher
Stephen W. Mosher
Orinda: daughter of W. T. & C. Mosher
William T. Mosher
Charity Finch: wife of W. T. Mosher Website http://www.rootsweb.com/~nycayuga/cem/cem84.htm lists the name "Punda" instead of Orinda. It also shows her as being the daughter of "John". I did not see that reference in the cemetery. Could you verify this please. I think she was clearly the daughter of William T. Mosher, and probably (most likely) the wife of Steven W. Mosher. William T. Mosher was Earl W. Mosher great-grandfather, and my wife's 2nd great-grandfather. William T. Mosher was also the son of Eseck Mosher (b. March 19, 1756 d. November 1826, in Springport, Cayuga County, NY). I'm also not sure of the year of birth for Steven W. Mosher. The headstone looks like 1818 not 1848. However, because of it's age, this could be a mistake on my part. |

I saw your website on genweb. My name is Amy Austin and I have lived on Levanna
Rd for about 17 years. I live about 1 mile up the road and walked to that
cemetary at least once a week. The reason I am e-mailing you is that about
6-8 years ago Kenneth Gifford was buried there. His headstone is flat and
close to the fence. There are some plants there that my family and I brought
down to him, this last Memorial Day. I just thought maybe you would like
to update your records. |
