In the mid 1960's a couple local Historians (Flora B. Daniells & Mable L. Crosby), members of the Owasco Chapter D.A.R. and Pomona Grange compiled a 10 volume listing of Cayuga County , NY cemetery records. These books generally cite the name and date (or year) of death as referenced in actual cemetery records or (more commonly) as transcribed form cemetery gravestones. Copies of these cemetery index volumes are available for research in the Local History Room of Seymour Public Library, The Cayuga County Historian's Office and Luther Research Center at the Cayuga-Owasco Lakes Historical Society and Syracuse NY (Onondaga County) Public Library. A complete set was also placed in the The Cayuga County Clerk's Office -Records Mgmt. Office in the early 1960s without a notice of copyright protection. The copies of each volume as contained in the Seymour library, County Historian's Office, and the Luther Research Center contain individual surname indexes. The following is a list of the Cemeteries as cited in these cemetery index books. Often we have provided links to web sites that provide available cemetery burial records or inventories of headstone information.

Note that this "On-Line Listing" of cemetery records was achieved with the help of many volunteers who transcribed this information into a digital computer format. The origin of these cemetery record compilations, came from various sources. Most sources are cited at the top and/or bottom of the individual cemetery record page sites, along with the name of the person who transcribed the records into a digital format. Most were compiled in the mid 1960's and will not cite burials after that date. Be aware that many of these lists are only an inventory of information obtained from available, legible gravestones at a specific point in time. It is possible that additional burials may exist, but could not be documented or defined by existing records or legible gravestones. These on-line records should be considered as a research tool and a secondary records source only! The information provided is intended for personal genealogy and local history research. We do not guarantee the contents of research materials and/or the expertise of any transcribers, professional researchers or look-up volunteers.

**Cemeteries In The Town Of Montezuma**
In Fall 2020, Kathleen Shaw Decker phtographed and re-transcribed all legible gravestones for cemeteries within the Town of Montezuma NY for the website: BILLION GRAVES . For those not familiar with Billiongraves.com it differs from Find a Grave in that it is exclusive to existing stones, assigns gps coordinates to each picture and places it on a satellite map for the cemetery. If you walk into a cemetery and open the free app on a phone, and search for a grave, it will show you precisely where it is located. On the internet, you can go directly to Billion Graves and search for Montezuma, Cayuga, New York. All of the cemeteries will appear on a map and you can select each one to search. Once the cemetery is opened, you can just click on the search screen without filling anything in and it will show you every person who has a stone there. Clicking on a single person, shows you that person's individual photograph and information. Going to the Volunteer tab will open a satellite view of all the graves in that particular cemetery.
