Links To Cemetery Location Maps
For Cayuga County, NY
Thin Line

In the early 1960s, two local historians (Flora Daniels & Mabel Crosby) worked together with members of the Owasco Chapter DAR, Pomona Grange and other volunteers to compile a countywide inventory of cemetery burial information for Cayuga County NY.  Copies of these cemetery records now reside in several locations, including the Cayuga County Historian’s Office and Seymour Public Library in Auburn NY.  However, the version originally filed with the Cayuga County Clerk Office (now in the County Records Retention Office) was put into a series of professionally hard-bound volumes and included cemetery location maps within each volume.

These cemetery location maps (originally hand-drawn in the 1960s) were not to scale and often only approximate.  In circa 2003, staff at the Cayuga County Office of Real Property Services and the County Historian's Office attempted to create a new set of cemetery location maps by comparing the maps drawn in the 1960s, with more modern tax maps. This project proved to be challenging and resulted in mixed success. Many rural cemeteries reside on private land and are seldom referenced within deeds or visible on aerial photography.  Meanwhile, only cemeteries officially owned by a cemetery association are generally shown on tax maps.  Below are links to versions of both maps.
