Burial Record Book For North Street Cemetery In Auburn, New York |
It appears that either the Sexton or Auburn NY City Government Officials
compiled a roster of graves for North Street Cemetery (probably) in the late
1800s or early 1900s. This hand-written listing of individual graves
is the only early, original record of burials for the cemetery believed
to exist today. In 2011, this original cemetery record book resides
at the City of Auburn NY Public Works Department at 366 Genesee Street in
Auburn NY 13021.
The front section of this early ledger book provides a listing of individual
graves alphabetical by name and the rear half of the book is
sequential by section/plot location.

In the mid 1960's a group of local historians and members of the Owasco Chapter of the DAR compiled a 10 volume listing of Cayuga County , NY cemetery records or headstone transcriptions. The North Street Cemetery portion of this countywide burial roster project was composed in 1964 by Miss Flora Daniells, apparently from both headstone inscriptions and the burial record book for this cemetery. North Street Cemetery is owned and maintained today by the local government of the City Of Auburn NY - Municipal Public Works Dept. Cemetery Divisions. See their website at: https://www.auburnny.gov/public-works/pages/cemeteries |
